Tips for Setting Your Preferences

Number of Results
You can set the number of Web results that are displayed on the first page of results for each search. We recommend 10 (the default) for best results and optimal speed of responses. To view more results, click on a page number or the "next" arrow on the bottom of the Ask Reply Page.

Open Answers in a New Browser Window
You can set the option of opening the pages listed in the search results in a new browser window in order to keep your Ask results page easily accessible. Some people prefer this setting, especially when performing research or multiple searches.

Adult Search Results Filter
Our adult search results filter is designed to minimize direct exposure to explicit, adult-oriented content from our Web and Image search results.
When sexually explicit search material is likely to be returned, our service can trigger an "Alert" that will still allow access to this web content, as well as the ability to search directly within material that has been identified as potentially Adult in nature.

This filter is set to "Alert me" as the default selection. You can change this setting to "Minimize Adult Content", which will always suppress these results.

Please note, despite our best efforts, Ask.com cannot guarantee that all explicit content will be excluded from search results.

Saving Your Settings
At the bottom of the settings form there is a button labeled "Save my settings." After you have set your preferences, clicking this button will save those settings for future visits to Ask.com.
